On Sunday, June 6, Rev. Alex Lever was invited to preach at First Presbyterian Church as a pastoral candidate, being so nominated by the Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC). Along with our Interim Pastor, Rev. Baron Ashfield, he lead worship, provided a children's homily on their gifts as members of God's family, delivered a sermon about God's calling to each one of us as Christians.
Following the service, a congregational meeting was held to elect Rev. Lever as our new pastor, and to desolve the PNC. By secret ballot, an overwhelming majority elected Rev. Lever as our new pastor. He was introduced along with his family — his wife Rachel and his son Samuel — and welcomed by the congregation.
Before the meeting adjourned, generous thanks and thunderous applause and standing ovations were given to the PNC for its hard work these past 8 months, as well as to Baron for his past 3 years of dedication and service as our Interim Pastor. Introductions and greetings continue in fellowship hall following the meeting's adjournment.
Rev. Alex Lever was born in the Detroit area, and lived there for most of his life. His father was a Ford Motor Company executive, and was transferred several times, so Alex has lived in San Francisco, Tokyo, Philadelphia and Charleston. He currently lives in central Pennsylvania.
Alex graduated from the University of Michigan in 1999 and then went straight to Westminster Theological Seminary to receive his Master of Divinity. He has served as Director of Christian Education in the Charleston SC area and is a pastor in central Pennsylvania.
Alex's wife Rachel, is a violinist and they have a 3-year old son, Samuel. Alex enjoys playing and watching most sports, loves history, and likes to hike and run. Rachel and Alex enjoy spending time with their son and listening to all the funny things he says at his age.
Final approval of the congregation's decision is pending on approval of our presbytery as well as the presbytery in which Rev. Lever is now a pastor.
He and his family are slated to tentatively join us here in Monroe around mid-August.
Please check back often for new updates concerning our new pastor, Rev. Alex Lever.

You can also drop them off there on Wednesdays or at the main Sacred Heart church any day. If this doesn't work for you, you can drop them off here at our church and I will get them over to them.
